In collaboration with Interfaith Ceremony for Peace and Understanding, the Interfaith Centre of Melbourne brought together the different faiths around the world we live in, to share in the commonality of seeking world peace. It is through understanding, respect and magnanimity that we may all co-exist in harmony with one another. It is a celebration and focus on the similarities we share, instead of seeing only the differences that separate us all.

Presented by Fo Guang Shan Melbourne and The Interfaith Centre of Melbourne, spiritual leaders and representatives from various faiths, offered prayers and readings from sacred texts for peace and understanding amongst all beings in the world. Together, side by side, in unity, participants alongside religious leaders and representatives made a peace offering towards understanding between the people of the world’s religions, faiths and spiritualities.

The ceremony was held as part of the free annual Buddha’s Day and Multicultural Festival at Federation Square. The festival was organised by FGS Monastic Order and Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA), a not-for-profit organisation, which engages in activities that are beneficial to society at large. The association places emphasis on education, culture, cultivation and service.
